How pool filter works ? Cleaning of pool water plays an extremely important role in ensuring water clarity and protecting human health. Here, the filters create variability in terms of the type of filter, the type of sand in the filters, the maintenance period and the filtration rate of the sand bed. Likewise, the cleaning of the pool is of great importance in the filtration process. So how does the pool filter work, which is our main question?

How pool filter works

Dirty water from the pool enters through the inlet pipe of the filter. The water is dispersed inside the filter tank. With the effect of gravity, the water is filtered down through the filter sand. Small grains of sand, hair, dirt, dust, insects, etc. unwanted substances are caught in the glass filter media. The filtered water flows through the collection unit and is discharged back into the pool through the outlet pipe.

Dirt and dirt accumulated as a result of filtration over time slows down the flow of water. You can understand that your filter is dirty when the inlet is more than the outlet in the pressure bars on the filter. In filters that are cleaned regularly, this process will take up to 1 month, depending on the usage. If you need detailed information on this subject, you can take a look at our article “How to Clean the Pool“. Backwashing is necessary after this contamination process. After the necessary adjustments are made, the dirt and impurities in the filter are sent to the sewer by giving water in reverse.

Some pool systems use a diatomaceous earth or cartridge filter instead of a sand or glass filter. Here, too, the system is more or less the same, but it is filtered through a filter covered with diatomaceous earth consisting of fossilized remains or by passing through grids or a polyester paper alloy filter. In the cleaning process, after a few years of use, the soil should be changed or the paper should be discarded and a new one should be installed.

Most of the time, it is expected that all the water in the pool will pass through the filter between half an hour and 6 hours.

Well that’s the obvious question.

Does glass sand cut?

Does it pass through the filter and sink into people’s feet?
Micronized GFS Glass sand is sized to be the smallest 0.5mm to make it the most efficient in the pool industry. In this case, if the output of your filter is smaller than the size, you do not need to be afraid. It happened that there was a problem and exited, you don’t have to worry again. GFS Glass media goes through the tumble process during production. The windows are so rasped that you can pick them up with a weight, squeeze the windows and even play games with them.
